As a principal and practice leader of the firm, Ryan champions strategic initiatives to spur national growth, strengthen client relationships, and mentor future leaders. Over the past 25 years, Ryan has collected valuable experiences working on transformative community, mixed use, retail, and housing projects. He now specializes in designing mixed use spaces that promote engagement, connectivity, and a sense of place.

Ryan’s forward-thinking approach keeps clients ahead of the curve in an ever-changing world. He holds architectural licenses in more than a dozen states, U.S. territories, and foreign countries, and has designed projects throughout North America and the Caribbean. Expertise ranges from master planning to entitlement, real estate evaluation to visualization services, and placemaking to market positioning.

Notable mixed use development clients include Brookfield Properties, Greystar, and Panorama Holdings with transformational projects such as 1530 Broadway in Times Square, New York; Charlotte, North Carolina’s Ballantyne Village; and the redevelopment of Mt. Shasta Mall in Redding, California.

“Pushing the boundaries of traditionally designed spaces enables varied and layered experiences of space,” says Ryan. "These experiences create environments critical to success in today’s competitive environment to attract and retain customers, tenants, and visitors.”

Ryan’s design for Catawba Indian Nation’s Community Center was recognized in 2022 as an AIA Charlotte award recipient for contributing to the health and wellbeing of their aging population, reflection of their rich cultural heritage, and sensitivity to the native environment and sustainable resources.

In 2015, Ryan was recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal as one of Charlotte’s 40 Under 40 recipients for his professional accomplishments and ongoing contributions in the local community and national organizations such as Urban Land Institute (ULI), National Association of Industrial & Office Properties (NAIOP), Innovating Commerce Serving Communities (ICSC), U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), International Stillbirth Alliance, Rock Hill’s Miracle Park, and the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Rock Hill Area Council board.
