Tod is an award-winning designer, researcher, practice leader, and educator. He works collaboratively with clients and team members to create inspirational environments that positively impact learning for students of today and tomorrow. Additionally, Tod is a vocal advocate for sustainable practices and has inspired other architects and engineers to prioritize combatting the existential climate crisis.

For more than two decades, Tod has been leading transformational architectural designs across the United States. His work has been recognized, awarded, and featured nationally in publications dedicated to academic design, including American School and University, Learning by Design, and Spaces4Learning. He is sought after nationally as a speaker, presenter, panelist, juror, and contributing author.

Notable clients include Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, University of Notre Dame, Old Dominion, University of Michigan, University of Nebraska, University of Texas, Wayne State University, and Western Michigan University.

With deep subject matter expertise in “all things” higher education, Tod leads projects ranging from libraries to golf training centers, science buildings to art facilities, and lab incubators to welcome centers.  

For 10 years, he served as an adjunct professor in the College of Architectural Design at Lawrence Technological University. He has also worked to stay up to date through executive education at Harvard University, attending programs in Sustainability, The Future of Library Design, Campus of the Future, and The Institute for Childcare Design.

Tod has been recognized as an AIA Fellow, the AIA’s highest membership honor, for his exceptional design work and contributions to architecture and society. Over the course of his career, Tod has received over 20 design awards.
