2020Dechert is an international law firm of more than 900 lawyers. As new buildings were being developed in Charlotte, Dechert had an opportunity to relocate to one of the new premier buildings, 300 South Tryon. This meant a new approach and way of working for the firm. Intentionally locating the café directly off the reception, it provided for a central meeting area that created an activated space for clients and colleagues. The segmented glass, pops of color help to separate this innovative firm from the typical. The dynamic street views provide a break from the office and the mix of seating allows for an alternate workspace.
It was important to create an environment that reinforced the brand, but also allowed for individualization for this regional office that is reflective of the Dechert associates. Additional meeting or collaboration spaces were included for associates to easily connect via video to other offices. Minimizing square footage and executing an efficient plan was one overarching goal.
Unique Design Aspects:
- Elevated and modern approach to a typical law firm
- Marries well with the brand across the US
- Main serpentine focal wall was created using faceted textured glass with an illuminating light cove
- Teal block is stacked back painted glass with metal reveals to tie in several strong datum lines in the space
