This project maximized a private donation by developing multiple “classrooms of the future.” In conjunction with the campus master plan, it explores the future of teaching, office, and student space. It engaged English and Mathematics department faculty and students in design and planning. An important goal is to measure the difference in learning outcomes and to document measures of success “before and after” the space was renovated and the furnishings and technology were updated.

Objective

Design a student space to encourage off-campus students to stay and connect with other students and faculty in order to increase student success and engagement.

Outcome

Cook Hall had the highest satisfaction results from students. Social areas continue to be active spaces throughout the day.
