Henry Ford Allegiance Health wanted to expand and maintain their network   developing a remote surgical center to serve the communities east of Jackson, MI. Henry Ford Allegiance Health partnered with client and developer Todd Borst to create a licensed Freestanding Surgical Outpatient Facility (FSOF) as an anchor building for a new health campus.  One of the primary drivers for the project was to locate the building in a highly-visible and accessible location just off the highway to enhance awareness of the services.

Progressive AE conducted planning to create a high level of efficiency throughout the building for patients, staff and surgeons, in order to reduce steps from the waiting room, to surgery, to recovery, and to reduce steps for staff from the operating room to post-procedure operations. The client also needed the project to be executed and built in a timely fashion as they looked to quickly start the campus development.

Objectives:

  • Operational efficiency of the staff
  • Exceptional infection control
  • High-end patient experience
  • Speed to market
  • Visibility to the desired market

Outcomes:

The freestanding ambulatory surgery center features a high-class patient experience starting with intuitive wayfinding, ample parking, and dedicated entry/discharge points. The patients are greeted with private registration bays, a quiet waiting area, and a café to setup the exceptional care they will be receiving inside the center. The clinical space includes 16 pre/post bays, two licensed operating rooms, and two procedure rooms convertible to licensed operating rooms in the future. All building support services are designed to be managed remotely with the long-term cost of ownership in mind.
