This new facility is in the center of campus focusing on the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The building includes seven state-of-the-art laboratories, various small group engagement areas, faculty offices, an outdoor plaza and rain garden. Ecology and the environment are incorporated as a learning tool throughout the facility. An outdoor classroom provides a connected place for learning. The runoff is diverted to a series of rain gardens that flow to the University’s central lake. Water and abundant natural light are essential components to learning about science; but also reflect important spiritual teachings of the school. The owner challenged the design team to create a state-of-the-art STEM environment that shows a strong connection between science and faith, and between student and teacher.
