Provide complete architectural, interior design, site/landscape architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, civil and structural engineering coordination, and construction administration for a new two-story, 55,000 SF single stream recycling center in downtown Grand Rapids. The new facility became the residential recycling center for all of Kent County, and allows for observation of daily operations for visitors and local school groups. The project includes 4,000 SF of office and visitor space including an employee break room, parts and tools storage, toilet rooms, two truck docks, three tipping bays with a fourth bay for drop off of pre-sorted materials, storage for converted recycled materials prior to pick-up, a separate bay for glass material export. The visitor area is located on the second floor and includes a lobby, toilet rooms, pre-function area, observation and classroom areas with high-tech A/V equipment, as well as observation decks and elevated walkways for viewing operations. The project is designed for basic LEED certification.
