2003The primary educational mission of the facility is outreach, and the design expresses that mission. The design intent begins with the location. The non-traditional, 22-acre site in an industrial park allows for future growth and places the college’s services in a location that is visible, accessible, and convenient. The building materials are high tech and intended to make a statement that “something new is going on,” while at the same time meeting a tight construction schedule and budget. This building was the first phase of a campus master plan.
Objective
This new extension campus began with a simple vision: to attract and serve learners from its lakeshore community and beyond.
Outcome
It has significantly exceeded enrollment expectations, due not only to the program offerings, but also the inviting, inclusive nature of the facility’s design.
