1,200-seat sanctuary addition; 11,000 square foot Parish Life CenterCost
$5,000,000Completion
2009The project consists of an addition to seat 1,200, formal entry with drop-off, rest rooms, chapel, reconciliation rooms, and baptistery. The challenge of the addition is to “plug into” the existing church, drawing support functions from the existing church, but raising the facility to new heights with the new worship space. New and existing areas are separated by a neutral area that provides an intimate gathering area for parishioners before and after service.
Objective
Utilize support functions from the existing church, but raise the facility to new heights with the new worship space. To create an engaging youth center that is also neutral enough to host various groups and functions as part of a very active Catholic parish.
Outcome
Formal entry with drop-off, rest rooms, chapel, reconciliation rooms, and baptistry. New and existing areas are separated by a neutral area which also provides an intimate gathering area for parishioners before and after services. Associated Builders & Contractors Award of Excellence (church construction).
