2016This project included the design and construction of a new terminal building, extensive site work, and a 17,000-square foot apron expansion of the West Michigan Regional Airport.
Leading the design of the new terminal, Progressive AE guided a 30-person committee through a series of exercises to help determine the facility’s function and aesthetic. One of the main goals identified by the team was to create a new gateway and destination for people flying in and out of Holland. The team also believed that the new business center needed to reflect the vibrant business community of the region.
The showcase of the new terminal is the Airport Business Center. The new center gives corporate flyers, who represent the majority of the airport’s clientele, a private space that supports their specific needs.
On the public side of the building, there is functional space for receiving passengers and pilots, in addition to a large lobby space and public meeting/conference areas. The new conference rooms provide opportunities for those who do not fly corporately to engage the facility.
