Waterford Place Rehab Center Grand Opening
We recently helped Sunset Communities celebrate the grand opening of Waterford Place Rehab Center in Jenison, Michigan. At the official ribbon cutting on July 19th, I was surrounded by so many faces whose hands had touched this project throughout the two year process. Hands that designed the building architecture, poured the foundation, raised beams and planted flowers.
As I was touring Waterford Place Rehab Center alongside staff, donors, contractors and designers, the excitement and joy was overwhelming. It’s hard to believe it all started with one seed planted by Sunset Communities many years back – to provide the community and those needing compassionate care a space in which to receive it. The project stemmed from loving principles in an environment that supported their mission of providing quality services for senior adults in a spirit of Christian love.
Sunset Communities engaged Progressive AE early on to help design a building that would not only allow for state-of-the-art care to be delivered, but also provide a space for respite, socialization, reflection and a celebration of life. The challenge presented to our team was to:
- Create a family centric facility that reflects Sunset Communities’ faith based mission
- Create a space for high quality care that is clean, modern and leaves the impression that “they thought of everything”
- Create an industry leading rehab center that is “state-of-the-art” with a focus on technology and the environment
- Create a space that is resident friendly and is known as THE place to go
Our team set out to achieve these goals in partnership with Sunset Communities, The Christman Company and Elzinga Volkers through a collaborative design process. And what were once preliminary conversations transformed into conceptual sketches, architectural plans and then a built environment. We do this hand-in-hand with others to make a difference, and use the skills we have been given to provide a building in which the goals reflected above can be accomplished.
Congratulations Sunset Retirement Communities on the opening of Waterford Place Rehab Center. We are so proud to have been given the opportunity to walk alongside your organization on this journey.
